Choripán
Choripán is an Argentinian sandwich that has become increasingly popular in recent years. This delicious combination of a baguette, grilled chorizo, chimichurri sauce, and pickled red onions originated in Argentina as a quick snack to be enjoyed at any time of day. It can be served as an appetizer or main course for lunch or dinner and it’s easy to make. Choripán combines the smoky flavor of grilled meat with the tangy sweetness of pickled onions and the herby spiciness of chimichurri sauce – making it truly irresistible!
Choripán
Ingredients
- 1 loaf of baguette cut into 4 inch sections
- 2 chorizo sausages grilled or pan fried until cooked through and sliced.
- A generous portion of chimichurri sauce can be made with parsley, garlic, oregano, red pepper flakes, olive oil and vinegar
- Pickled red onions to garnish optional
Instructions
- Preheat a griddle or large skillet over medium heat. Add the chorizo sausage links and cook for 10 minutes flipping occasionally until fully cooked through. Remove from heat and slice each link in half lengthwise before transferring to a plate.
- Slice the baguette into 4 inch pieces using a serrated knife so that it’s easier to assemble later on without tearing apart the bread too much when spreading sauces or filling them with ingredients like this recipe calls for. 3. Spread some chimichurri sauce onto one side of each baguette piece then layer each piece with 1/4th of the sliced chorizo sausage halves down the center followed by pickled red onions if desired as well as any other toppings you may have chosen such as thinly sliced tomatoes or lettuce leaves etc… 4. Serve immediately while still hot & enjoy!
Notes
Although Choripán originates from Argentina, variations on this recipe have spread around South America due to its popularity. In Chile and Peru, you will find versions including mayonnaise instead of chimichurri sauce while some Colombians prefer adding avocado slices to their sandwiches. The choice between pork or beef chorizo also varies throughout different countries; however pork remains the most commonly used type in Latin America.
Choripán is not only eaten for meals but also during special occasions such as birthday parties and weddings where people enjoy them together with drinks like beer or soft drinks. Street vendors prepare these sandwiches all over Buenos Aires late into night when partygoers are looking for something tasty to eat before heading home after a long night out dancing tango! Regardless if you’re having friends over for lunch or just need something quick on-the-go – Chiripan makes a great meal option that can easily be prepared within minutes without breaking your budget!

Absolutely loved the Peri-Peri Chicken Toasted Sandwich! The flavors were spot on, with just the right amount of spice and tanginess from the peri-peri sauce. The chicken was cooked to perfection – juicy and tender, and the toasty bread added a nice crunch. The portion size was generous and made for a satisfying meal. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is because the side options were limited. Overall, a delicious and satisfying sandwich that I would definitely order again!
